写真家、教育者、ドラマトゥルク
下北沢 (東京) に生まれ、高校時代からアメリカで暮らし始める。ロイター通信社を経て、テンプル大学 Tyler School of Art にて MFA in Photography を所得。帰国後、テンプル大学のジャパンキャンパスにアート専攻を新設することを提案し、学科の立ち上げを行う。現在は、テンプル大学+昭和女子大学による日米グローバルキャンパスにて、「アート写真」の講座以外にも「写真の理論と実践」「コミュニティアート」などを担当中。
近年の写真展覧会として「作例 -- よくある質問と消えていく写真の言葉 (2022, Place M)」があり、毎年開催されている RICOH THETA (360度カメラ) 公式写真展「Beauty is all around」の審査員と展覧会のキュレーションを担当。ドラマトゥルク参加の劇場作品「T/IT: 不寛容について」が京都芸術センター、茅野市民会館で上演。Adobeフォトことはじめ講座の講師を2020年から勤めている
Photographer, Educator, Dramaturge
Born in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo, Shinya B began living in the United States during high school. After working at Reuters news agency, he received an MFA in photography from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University. Upon returning to Japan, he proposed the establishment of an art major at Temple University's Japan Campus and launched the program. Currently, he teaches courses such as "Photography Theories and Practices" and "Community Art," in addition to "Art Photography" at the joint Japanese-American global campus of Temple University and Showa Women's University in Tokyo.
In recent years, he has curated and served as a jury for the annual RICOH THETA (360-degree camera) official photo exhibition "Beauty is all around," and held his own photography exhibition titled "Sakurei - Sakurei -- Commonly Asked Questions and the Words Disappearing from Photography" at Place M in 2022. He also participated in the theater production "T/IT: Regarding Intolerance," which was shown at the Kyoto Art Center and the Chino Civic Hall. He has been a photo lecturer for Adobe Inc. since 2020.
